For One Night Only – Musical Influences: King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band

In my latest chapter of For One Night Only, Edward and Bella visit Lincoln Gardens, which was a nightclub and dance hall on the South Side of Chicago. It’s where they listen to music by the resident band, who is inspired by King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band. You may be familiar with one of the band’s most famous members, trumpeter Louis Armstrong, who is among the most influential figures in the history of jazz. In 1923, King Oliver and Armstrong composed “Dippermouth Blues,” which showcases their recognizable Dixieland jazz sound. Enjoy! 🎶
